ABOUT ALEX KATZ
Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1927.
He is an American artist famous for his flat portraits.
In American art, where Pop Art and Abstractionism flourished, he attempted to create his own unique realistic expression while being influenced by them. The family, friends, and landscapes depicted on wooden panels (initially aluminum) in vivid colors and sharp, carefully selected forms with minimal waste give an impression different from that of mere figuration.
