This work likens words to stars in the night sky. Using letters written in English by historical figures, the artist extracts only the dots above the lowercase letter “i” and rearranges them.
Words are understood through layers of context, including country, culture, history, personal experience, and emotion. These differences can sometimes make mutual understanding difficult, yet they can also invite us to imagine the depth of another person’s words. Through traces of words stripped of their meaning, this work suggests that we can still connect the dots and create new meaning, revealing the nature of language and its profound depth.
The work invites us to imagine that the thoughts and feelings a person once put into a letter to someone are now quietly shining like stars.
Micro Dry printing is a specialized thermal transfer printing technology developed by Alps Electric and used in printers the company formerly sold. It enabled printing in white and metallic colors such as gold and silver, which are difficult to achieve with conventional inkjet printers.
Frame included. A certificate is attached to the back of the frame.
Delivery within Japan takes approximately 7–10 days.
