“I give my works the title View because I want painting to be a landscape that embraces the viewer and carries them into a space beyond the everyday.

A landscape that is not of any particular place, yet feels as though it has been seen somewhere, sometime before.

A landscape that gently envelops us in warmth.

Although we perceive a landscape’s surface through sight, it also possesses a certain depth, including aspects that cannot be seen directly. In this way, it stimulates our imagination.

I create my works by applying layers of acrylic paint to cotton fabric, then scraping them away to reveal the layers beneath.

I hope that viewers will experience both the landscape that emerges on the surface of the work and the images it evokes—and that, after seeing my paintings, they will feel even slightly refreshed and uplifted.”
