ABOUT Yoshitomo Nara

He is one of Japan’s leading artists whose works are held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and are highly acclaimed around the world. His works featuring girls with large heads and leering eyes are popular both in Japan and abroad, and always fetch high prices at auctions. His works, which simultaneously depict the innocence of a child and the occasional glimpse of malice, have a strong message that resonates with people today.
