ABOUT Chiharu Shiota

Chiharu Shiota began creating works that would lead to her current style while at an art college in Japan. She then moved to Germany, where she studied under Marina Abramović, a well-known performance artist, at the Hamburg University of Art and Design.
Many people think of Chiharu Shiota’s dynamic works in which red threads are stretched across a space. Her masterpiece "Uncertain Journey" is still impressive with its red threads stretching from the ship to the ceiling. The red threads are reminiscent of blood vessels or human connections. The fundamental human questions of "life and death" and "existence" are the themes of her works. Her installation works, which express the formless, overwhelm viewers and draw them into her unique world. She continues to be active in Berlin and around the world, and we cannot take our eyes off of her work in the future.
