Artist’s comment:
This is part of the "Lightbulb City" series that I have been creating since 2010.
Inside each lightbulb, I have placed various vintage postcards collected by the artist, filled with liquid and sealed.
While the printed text and photographs on these postcards often become clichéd, they also serve as evidence of the sender’s desire to preserve a memory.
Fleeting and seemingly insignificant memories can easily slip away, and by transforming them into a piece of art, I aim to bestow a certain aura upon them, allowing memories to be preserved in a new form.
It comes with a white pedestal (approximately w7 × d7 × h5 cm).
Delivery of this piece within Japan will take approximately 1 week to 10 days.
ABOUT Kaoru Murakami
Kaoru Murakami began her career as an oil painter and etching artist. After moving to England to study contemporary art, she began showing her work in Japan in 2008. Her work is based on the theme of how closely she can draw the existence of others and past events related to these objects by expanding her images from objects such as postcards, texts, daily necessities, and photographs that serve as evidence of existence and situations. He continues to create works in a variety of media, including drawing, collage, and installation.
