As the pace of our era continues to accelerate, it sometimes feels as though our humanity is being left behind. Perhaps as a reaction to this, the fondness for “cute things”—once the domain of children—now seems to be spreading among adults as well. Warmth, nostalgia, and gentle comfort have become feelings people increasingly seek.

Yet today’s sense of “cute” is quite different from what it used to be. As expressions like “weird-cute” or “loose-cute” suggest, the idea of cuteness has grown more complex along with the times.

For this exhibition, we present a selection of works from our collection by artists such as Mr. Doodle, Toru Kase, Shinro Ohtake, and Konatsu Taniguchi—pieces that are charming in their own way and capture something of the “now.” All works will be on view and available for purchase.
