Shun Kawakami

Shun Kawakami

Born in Fukagawa, Tokyo in 1977, he is the president of artless Inc. He is a global artist who considers "art and design" as a cross-disciplinary field. His work is a blend of "classical technique and technology" and "traditional beauty and contemporary sensibility," consistently expressing abstract concepts that are invisible to the eye. His works have been exhibited at the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), the Musée National des Arts Décoratifs de France at the Louvre in Paris, the National Art Museum in Kuala Lumpur, Milan Furniture Fair, TENT LONDON, DMY (Berlin), BODW (Hong Kong), Singapore Design Festival, Seoul Design Festival (Korea), Shanghai Design Biennale, and many other festivals, exhibitions, and conferences in Japan and abroad. He has received numerous awards in Japan and abroad, including ADC: Young Guns 6, NY ADC, D&AD, Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival (Gold), The One Show, London International Award, NY TDC, Tokyo TDC, DFAA (Hong Kong), Good Design Award, Tokyo Interactive Ad Award, and many other awards in Japan and abroad.

Biography

1977 Born in Fukagawa, Tokyo
2001 Established "artless". Started activities focusing on graphic design for "+81 magazine" and other publications.
2008 Awarded "NY ADC: Young Gun 6," which selects 50 outstanding art directors under the age of 30 from around the world.
2009: Selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for the "KANSEI" exhibition at the Musée National des Arts Décoratifs in the Louvre in Paris, France, as part of the 150th anniversary of Japan-France relations, and produced an art book for exhibition.
2010 Won a gold medal at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival for a video artwork he created for a Finnish TV station (ch4).
2011: In charge of show windows/VMD (Visual Merchandising) for Isetan Shinjuku. Art direction and graphic work for a total of 21 windows in the main building and men’s building, as well as "The Stage" on the first floor of the main building.
2013 "ONE SHOW DESIGN (NY)" Gold Pencil/Gold Award. DFAA (Design for Aisia Award - Hong Kong). "Tokyo TDC" Award.
