One of France’s leading artists and a representative of the late 1960s French avant-garde art movement known as "Supports/Surfaces" (*). The repetitive motifs depicted with clear and vibrant colors are lively and brimming with refined brightness. Continuously introduced in various parts of the world, including France and the United States, and in Japan, exhibitions such as "Supports/Surfaces" (The Museum of Modern Art, Saitama, etc, 1993), "Body and Expression: 1950-1980 from the Pompidou Center Collection" (The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo and The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, 1996), and "Pompidou Collection Exhibition" (Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, 1997). (*) "Supports/Surfaces" French for "support/surface," was one of the important art movements of the 1970s. against the background of the political season triggered by the Paris May Revolution at the end of the 1960s, several young French artists began a systematic reflection on painting and its components and institutional aspects. They engaged in lively discussions and presentations, involving the artists around them, on various elements such as color, form, and other forms, materials including canvas, wooden frames, and paints, or exhibition spaces and presentation methods.
