1940 Born in Osaka, spent childhood in Kochi.
1969 Won the Golden Apple Award at the 2nd World Picture Book Original Drawing Exhibition for "Chikarataro".
1973-2009 Received many awards for "Tobe Grasshopper" and other works
2009 Opened "Museum of Picture Books and Nuts" at the 4th Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, where an entire abandoned school was turned into a "spatial picture book.
2013 Currently working on "Blue Sky Aquarium" and "Forest Lane" on Oshima Island, Kagawa Prefecture, where a leprosy sanatorium was located for the 2nd Setouchi International Art Festival.
2017 Nominated for the International Andersen Prize.
