About

Sako Kojima

Sako Kojima is known for her performances in which she dresses up as a hamster and lives in a cage for a week, as well as her three-dimensional works and paintings. Her main motif of animal figures is the coexistence of tragedy and comedy, and while her concept is based on the negative emotions that are stirred up in human beings, she mixes humor and brings the viewer into her world with her unique charm. Her paintings appear at first glance to have been roughly painted with a fast brush, but the underlying surface has been painted over many times, and the result is the result of many images painted over and over again. The semi-figurative brushstrokes and rough matiere of her paintings project the viewer’s emotions precisely because they are abstract.
